Wool Appliqué Quilt

This year we are thrilled to offer a Wool Appliqué version of our Block of the Month quilt! Throughout this project, you will learn how to work with our Merino Wool fabric as well as improving your skills in appliqué, and hand embroidery work. Unsure of what thread to use for the blocks? No need to worry, we have 3 different curated packs specifically designed to go with this quilt. One pack of Ellana™, our 12wt wool thread made to coat the edges of your appliqué! Additionally, we have 2 different Eleganza™ packs, in both solid and variegated colours. This 8wt, Egyptian cotton thread is the perfect choice for hand embroidery, and embellishments. Both Eleganza™ packs come in collectable, limited edition Bird Watcher tins. If you are concerned about cutting out your own wool appliqué shapes, we have kits for that as well! Foundation Paper Piecing Quilt

As some of you may know, last year we ran a Foundation Paper Piecing BOM with a flower theme! Due to its popularity we decided to offer another FPP pattern for our BOM this year. The FPP version of the Bird Watcher quilt features the same 12 birds, perched on twisting tree branches which line up along the bottom of each block. So be prepared to line up those edges with precision! We have selected 2 sets of Andover fabrics for these blocks. Allowing you to choose between a more modern, or more traditional look! Thread selection plays a crucial role in piecing projects. So, we have curated an extra special piecing pack for this BOM which includes 3 colours of DecoBob™, our 80wt, cottonized polyester, lightweight piecing thread. Using a lightweight thread like DecoBob™ will ensure flater seams, resulting in a more polished end product. Once you’re done piecing, it’s time to get quilting. Take a look at our Bird Watcher Quilting pack, which includes an assortment of cotton quilting threads chosen to compliment this FPP project.
